WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Downtown Wilmington is offering many ways to get into the Christmas spirit. And businesses in the area do their part to help out. The third annual Historic Wilmington Holly Jolly Holiday Stroll is just another way Downtown Wilmington embraces the spirit of the season.
“There’s a very focused effort in Downtown Wilmington to make this a place that people go all year long,” Terry Epsy, Downtown Business Alliance President, said.
With winter cheer and ugly sweater parties starting up, businesses are looking for ways to attract customers. Especially in the off-season for our coastal communities.
“The big point of this is to bring people downtown. Downtown has a beautiful historic area. And we’re really trying to create a whole, you know, festive holiday atmosphere to make downtown a dining and shopping destination for the holidays,” Matt Babson, The George on the Riverwalk manager, said.
“It’s really focused in one real solid push for the Downtown market and to get people down here. Holly Jolly, we’d love to get it expanded in the future to the Holly Jolly season. Between Thanksgiving to Christmas, make this Downtown market the place to go,” Epsy said.
Some businesses say they want to become a hot spot. For year round shopping and dining and it starts with the holidays.
The Holly Jolly Stroll just started. There will be more going on all weekend including a special visit from Santa.
